Known for its unparalleled customer experience, Odel hails as one of the most iconic retail brands in Sri Lanka, with its own distinctive department store. Visited by both locals and tourists, it has evolved into a must-visit landmark destination for all. We offer more than just trendy merchandise. Rather, we work to create a stimulating and evolving multi-sensorial journey for anyone who steps inside our stores - a total Mind, Body & Soul experience.

The approach of Odel’s Customer Experience initiative is centred on expansion (April 2010-2011). During this exciting period, we included 3 trendy outlets to our growing chain of superstores, adding XXX square feet to our stylish portfolio. This offered Odel’s unique shopping experience to a wider range of customers in the suburbs of Sri Lanka, something which they had not encountered before. With this, the Company turnover increased XXX % against last year.

We offer an unique product mix of fashion-forward international brands. Private labels include ‘Backstage’ accessories, ‘Embark’ the fashion brand with a cause, and ‘Delight’ confectionary to name some of the exclusive collections that are tailor-made to suit local preferences.

The flagship store boasts of 45, 000 square feet of style that is housed in a colonial mansion in the heart of Colombo, the country’s capital. It is the only outlet at which Odel offers around 20 services at a single location. Some of these include; diverse food offers, home and overseas delivery, foot massage & nail spa, supervised kids’ play area, concierge, garment alterations, currency exchange and more. All in all, a complete stylish, lifestyle solution.

The innovative use of space, light and colour gives each department its own persona, while contributing to the overall look and feel of the store – stylish and exclusive. Window displays are creatively executed in keeping with international trends and are often a sight to behold.

Stunning visuals and out-of-the-box themes are the hallmarks of any Odel event. We celebrate a mix of both international and local holidays, but with our own unique twist on it. One of these included a Christmas campaign, ‘Paradise Found’ - which had the store festooned with embellished and exotic wildlife, coupled with a dazzling splash of colour. Glittering sequined peacocks, crystallised sea shells and vibrant butterflies adorned the store in breathtaking splendour. It was whimsical and imaginative, laced with a hint of fantasy.

As the first fashion retailer to go public in Sri Lanka, Odel’s Initial Public Offering was oversubscribed by over 64 times, the highest margin of oversubscription on record for the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) at the time. The Bourse’s previous record of an IPO was by 20 times. Initially seeking to raise Rs. 250.5 million (US$ 2.2 million), and as a result of the 22, 548 applications received from the public, the cumulative value was found to be Rs. 16 billion (US$ 140.3 million) – an embodiment of the trust our customers have in us and their aspiration to be part of our Mind, Body & Soul experience, every step of the way.

For us at Richard Pieris and Company, it's about where and most importantly how you look at the world around you. In 2009, we took a step back and looked within ourselves; at the values, ideals and goals that are at the root of who we are. We worked diligently at developing and strengthening these core components into a fortified, immovable basis. The internal changes we made for the betterment of our company are now paying off, as you can see. We let our figures speak for themselves.

We now look out in 2010, towards the future with renewed hope and optimism. Strategically positioned at the threshold of a new era of growth and expansion, we have a positive outlook.
